Placement tips
The main door should open inward in a clockwise direction and be larger than interior doors to welcome energy into the home.
Place a nameplate in gold or brass on the right side of the entrance for recognition and prosperity.
Keep a threshold (dehleez) at the entrance, as it symbolically separates sacred home energy from external forces.
Decorate the entrance with a torana (mango leaf garland) or floral rangoli to invite Lakshmi's blessings.
Do
Ensure the entrance door is made of high-quality wood or metal and opens smoothly without creaking.
Keep the entrance area well-lit with warm lights and decorated with auspicious symbols like Om or Swastika.
Place potted plants or flower pots on both sides of the entrance to create a welcoming and vibrant entry.
Avoid
Never place a shoe rack or dustbin directly in front of or immediately inside the main entrance, as this repels positive energy.
Avoid having the main door directly aligned with the back door, as this creates a passage that lets energy rush through without settling.
Do not install broken, creaking, or rusting entrance doors, as they signal decay and repel opportunities.
